Leaving Bolivia – Santa Cruz and the night train
So our last days in Bolivia were a bit of a washout! We were in the city of Santa Cruz in heavy rain, and their main/only attraction is a water park! We managed to make a soggy trip to the main square, and try out some tasty cakes and Saltados (a bit like Cornish pasties). We also used the opportunity to stock up on toiletries before heading to the much more expensive Brazil.
To get to the border, we took an overnight train which took about 18hours. It was very slow and changed direction a lot, as well as stopping to let locals aboard to sell food and drink. It wasn’t very comfortable, but we made it through the bouncy and cold ride with pictures of the tropical days ahead in our minds….
