The madness begins… in Taupo
We arrived in Taupo to a gorgeous sunset. The lake has a mountain backdrop and clear, still waters. The stunning scenery and fine weather leant itself to our latest activity…. Skydiving!!
Skydiving was brilliant! We started to feel rather nervous beforehand, particularly when we flew higher and higher. But the thrill of the free fall was worth it – we couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces! The float down was a chance to catch our breath, and also to view the area from a height. We even took the reigns of the parachutes for a while.
For a land based activity, we walked along the river to the roaring Huka falls. It was loud. So much water passes through this section of the river, something like 5 Olympic swimming pools worth every minute!
Taupo was also our first encounter with a natural hot stream. Just off from the main path in a local park, the stream had steaming hot water and lots of little pools along it. A perfect place for a sunset and to chat and meet new friends too.
On the food side, we also tried our first gourmet burger at the lakeside Burger Fuel. Very tasty.

Free falling!

The nerves are kicking in!
