The Great Ocean Road
This is a top road trip for visitors to Oz – a journey along the south coast stretching westwards from Melbourne. This time, we tried out a tiny camper for size.
The views along the way were wonderful. Some sections of the road were right up alongside the sea, there were countless golden beaches, pretty sea side towns and bush walks to stretch the legs. The most famous view stop was for the 12 Apostles, which are quite enchanting. Another favourite visit was to Tower Hill, slightly inland, where the scenery changes immediately to a volcanic landscape, full of lakes, wetlands and forest too.
For culture, we stopped at the surf museum, but gave the tepid water a miss, and instead we sampled local foods (fish & chips, wine and cakes) and discovered Nordenfine Ice Cream in Anglesea.
The best parts of the adventure were our wildlife-spotting moments! We saw koalas in the trees and up close too. They are incredibly cute! We found kangaroos chilling out in a golf course. And we met kookaburras, parakeets and wallabies.
