Paraty

Pronounced ‘para-chi’, Paraty is a pretty colonial town. It is located on Brazil’s Costa Verde and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its Portuguese architecture and cobbled streets which are sometimes flooded with seawater.

The bay itself is scattered with dozens of tropical islands. We were able to soak up the views and even swim to some on our ‘caiparinha cruise’. Olly made a splash with a cliff dive and Sophie tried some beach caipoeira (Brazilian martial art/ dancing).

Paraty is a popular holiday destination for Brazilians too, and we could see why! We really chilled out here and as well as our boat trip, we went to a beach party, ate pancakes and ice cream, and even did a spot of flip flop shopping.
