Naples
We started our ‘big’ holiday this year in Naples – a city we have talked about visiting many times due to it’s reputation as the birthplace of pizza. Olly and I are big pizza fans. Thankfully my morning sickness had eased to about 10% by the time the trip started, so I was able to indulge in the Italian cuisine.
Naples itself didn’t have a lot of sites which captured our attention. What we liked the most was just ambling through the streets, taking in the atmosphere, and stopping for treats and peering into churches along the way.
The best ‘attraction’ we came across was the subterranea – a chance to walk underneath the city, discovering a new cavernous world which had various uses over time. I particularly enjoyed a candlelit tour of the narrow corridors which led to pools. Luckily this trip was just before my bump started to pop, so I was able to squeeze through!
After some confusion and nearly giving up, we were able to get a table for lunch at Sorbillo’s to sample the finest pizzas in town. The Napoli Pizza is different to what we are used to in the UK, it was rather soggy due to the buffalo mozzarella. It was delicious!
